OUR RECOMMENDED WALK
The area around Streatley abounds with challenges for the serious walker, including The Ridgeway, the ancient track along the Chilterns and
the Downs. However our recommended route from The Bull is less taxing and is in two parts, combining magnificent views with the tranquillity of the riverside village.
From the Inn’s car park, turn left and cross the road to the track opposite what was the old garage. This leads through a small gate
to Lardon Chase, now maintained by The National Trust. Climb the hill to the ridge from which the most wonderful view of the Thames, Goring and Streatley unfolds before you.
Return by the same route to the Inn and the less strenuous second stage of the walk, across the Reading – Oxford road towards the
river.
Visit St.Mary’s church on your left and then cross the Vicarage Lane where this becomes a track and towards the end, turn right onto
the marked public footpath.
This takes you away from the river and eventually joins the main road where you turn right along the pavement back to
The Bull and its warm welcome.
